Woo

Woo is currently also used to indicate nonsense, often to indicate religionist nonsense.

A woo-woo is a practioner of woo – often a none-too-bright, creationist, usenet troll, or author of pseudoscientific idiocy. Woo-woos resort to fallacies of logic and sock puppetry.

Former usage, dating from before the 12th century, and derived from Middle English wowen, which in turn derived from Old English wōgian, was:

to court a woman
